Tehran int’l Quran expo to host more than 20 countries

Representatives of 22 countries will take part in the 25th Tehran International Quran Exhibition this year, head of the international section says.

Abbas Nazarirad said the foreign guests are mostly Quran researchers, scholars, religious officials and media officials from around the Muslim world.

Quran enthusiasts from 22 countries, including Tunisia, Poland, Algeria, Kenya, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Iraq and Senegal, will be among them.

Tehran’s Quran exhibition opened on Monday, but its international section is slated to begin in a few more days.

The exhibition official said the international section is scheduled to be held on June 10-15, 2017.

He also noted that the foreign guests were selected and invited by the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO).

The foreign guests of the expo will visit a number of the country’s cultural and scholarly centers and meet with Iranian cultural, religious and Quranic figures during their stay, he added.

Kicked off on Monday, Imam Khomeini Mosalla (grand prayer hall) is hosting the event from May 29 to June 12 (Ramadan 3-22).

The organizers will end the exhibition before the last day of the holy month, because the Mosalla will be the venue of Eid al-Fitr prayers and it will take a few days to prepare to host worshippers on the day.

Some 300 publishers from Iran and a number of other countries, including Iraq, Syria, Turkey and Lebanon, have taken part at the international Quranic event.

The exhibition is comprised of different sections, most of which display Quranic achievements as well as books and products.

There is also a market called Hijab and Ifaf Bazar to offer Hijab products with a 30-percent discount.

The expo is slated to pay tribute to servants of the Holy Quran and to hold specialized forums on Quranic and Islamic issues.

Another special program of the exhibition is paying tribute to three prominent figures who passed away recently: Ayatollah Ali-Akbar Hashemi-Rafsanjani, Ayatollah Seyyed Abdul-Karim Mousavi-Ardebili and Ayatollah Abbas Vaez-Tabasi.

With the motto 'Quran, Ethics and Life' selected for this year’s expo, people can pay a visit every day from 5 PM (local time) to midnight.

Tehran International Holy Quran Exhibition is held annually during the holy month of Ramadan by Iran’s culture ministry.

The aim of this exhibition is to promote Quranic concepts and to develop activities related to the holy book of Muslims.
